Gardiner Chess run the Official Queensland Inter-School Chess Championships under licence from the Chess Association of Queensland. These events are held in terms 1-3 with State Finals being held in term four, and stretch from the NSW border through to Far North Queensland. Events in Toowoomba are run independently by the Toowoomba Chess Club, whilst there are currently no events in Western Queensland. Welcome to the term 1 Inter-School event for Gold Coast Hinterland Primary schools. This event is open to players in years Prep to Year 6 with multiple divisions on the day to cater to all ability levels.
Registration will be open from 8.45am, with the presentation to finish at 2.15pm (allow 2.30pm to be safe).

This tournament is open to players in Primary and Secondary with divisions for each. There are often multiple primary divisions on the day as well.
There is no qualification necessary for this event.
Players will play 7 rounds through the day, with the winning schools of the Primary and Secondary being given the opportunity to represent Queensland at the Australian Schools Teams Championships in December.

This event is for invited teams only based on Term Three results from around the State.
Welcome to the Gold Coast Individual Age Championships for 2024. This is the largest event held on the Gold Coast each year and we would love for your school to be a part of it!
This event will have multiple divisions – students will play against other students born in the same year as them, with divisions combined where necessary.

As always, if anyone is sick, we please ask them to stay away from the event where possible.

This event is open to all school based players in the NSW Northern Rivers region and will see players compete against students born in their year, or as close as possible (some age groups may need to be combined).
This is always a great fun event to finish off the year.
Medals will be awarded for 1st to 3rd in each age category, and we will have Merit ribbons for those not receiving a medal yet scoring 4.5/7 or higher.
