2026 QLD Inter-School State Finals

The Queensland Inter-School State Finals is for invited teams to compete for overall and regional prizes, whilst also building networks and friendships across the State.

Once again the venue will be St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace in the Campbell Centre.

2026 Term 3 – Brisbane South Secondary Interschool Tournament

Anglican Church GS - Oaklands Parade, East Brisbane

Welcome to the 2026 Term 3 Brisbane South Secondary Zone Interschool Competition

– When: Tuesday 4th August
– Where: Anglican Church Grammar School (East Brisbane)
– Who: Secondary Students
– Time: Registration from 8.30am to 9.15am. Start at 9.30am and finish around 2.15pm (allow to 2.30pm to be safe)
– Cost: $25.00 per player, invoiced to the school post event.

This event will have multiple divisions. Please ensure registration is done either via the website link or by sending an excel spreadsheet to [email protected] no later than Friday 31st Jul

As always, if anyone is sick, we please ask them to stay away from the event where possible.

Medals will be awarded for 1st to 3rd teams and 1st to 3rd individuals in each division, with merit ribbons to those individuals scoring 4.5/7 or higher.

Invoices will be sent to schools after the event takes place. Please ensure that you have have read all the relevant policies and procedures below before entering the event.

Unregistered schools may have their students excluded from the first round of the tournament, at the Chief Arbiter’s discretion. Schools arriving late must contact the Gardiner Chess office at 07 5522 7221, and may also miss the first round.

2026 Term 3 – Gold Coast Secondary Interschool Tournament

The Southport School - Winchester Street, Southport

Welcome to the 2026 Term 3 Gold Coast Secondary Zone Interschool Competition

– When: Thursday 6th August
– Where: The Southport School (Southport)
– Who: Secondary Students
– Time: Registration from 8.30am to 9.15am. Start at 9.30am and finish around 2.15pm (allow to 2.30pm to be safe)
– Cost: $25.00 per player, invoiced to the school post event.

Welcome to the 2026 Term 3 – Brisbane South One Day Challenge

Gardiner Chess is excited to present this one day rapid event, perfect for juniors of all ages and abilities with two divisions!

OPEN – For all rated players and those trying hard to get a rating
NOVICE – For unrated players, perfect for newer players trying a weekend tournament for the first time

Event Details:

When: Sunday 9th August
Where: Mount Gravatt Bowls Club – Carson Room
Time: 9.30am registration, 10.00am start, approx 4.00pm finish
Cost: $45.00 per player

Tournament Details:

Time Control: 15 minutes per player + 3 seconds per move
Prizes:
- Open: 1st to 3rd place + 3 x Rating Groups
- Novice: 1st to 3rd + Other trophies
All games submitted for Queensland Junior Rating
More prizes added pending numbers

Registration closes Friday 7th August. No registrations will be accepted after this time.

Come along and give this event a go and have a heap of fun! Parents are welcome to hang around.
