More about what Gardiner Chess does:
Gardiner Chess is the largest chess coaching company in Queensland, one of the largest in Australia and is highly regarded for our work. We pride ourselves on our reputation and currently provide quality coaching to approximately 100 schools in South-East Queensland. Chess coaching can be tailored to suit each school’s individual requirements, ranging from one off coaching days to regular coaching sessions on a weekly basis. Our coaches cater to students of all abilities and ensure that every student gains something out of the program.
Gardiner Chess is proud to run the Official Queensland Inter-School Chess Championships, having run these events for over 15 years, from the NSW Northern Rivers Region (on behalf of the NSW Junior Chess League), all the way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. These events give students of all ages and abilities an opportunity to compete, practice, and make new friends in a safe environment, all while determining the State Champions to represent Queensland at Nationals each year.
Gardiner Chess runs holiday programs, junior tournaments and open events (for all ages, including junior through to adult), including one of the largest tournaments in Australia, the Gold Coast Open. Whatever your level of chess, we provide opportunities for you!
We stock a range of quality chess products from standard tournament sets, to wooden sets and giant chess (and checkers) products. We also supply clocks and books for a wide range of purposes.
Our blog section features a variety of blogs, from the updated Queensland Junior Rating List every two months, to regular blogs from FIDE Master Dusan Stojic.
ChessKid is one of the newest and greatest tools added to our coaching resources. We are proud to be the official partner of ChessKid in Queensland and have already rolled the program out to over 2300 students. The ChessKid system allows students to learn, practice, play and hone their skills at home with fun interactive lessons. Keeping up to date with today’s technology is important and ChessKid allows this to happen easily. Students can take the program anywhere and it can used on any device!
Here are some testimonials about ChessKid from students that have begun using it and seeing the benefits.
“I love ChessKid as it is a lot of fun. I did more than 2000 puzzles which resulted in a massive improvement with my rating. ChessKid helped me to come 4th in the Minor Tournament at the Australian Open and 3rd in the Under 12’s at the Australian Junior Championships. The puzzles are my favourite although I also enjoy the shorter games which have helped me improve in tournaments. ChessKid has lessons and videos which are fun and my mum and dad like it because it is a safe environment for me to play online. Thanks to ChessKid and Gardiner Chess I was fortunate enough to win a new chess clock because I did heaps of puzzles.” Byron Morris – 12.
“If you are like me, a firm believer of the many cognitive and social benefits of playing chess for the young developing minds but struggle to keep your kids interested in doing chess exercises. I would recommend you to take a look at chesskids.com. I have found Chesskid.com to be extremely children friendly. There are many kids friendly features on Chesskid.com – one of my kids’ favourite is the short video lessons which are illustrated with hilarious cartoon animations presented in a very simplified, easy to understand step by step manner. It is great to see my kids staying motivated and deepening their understanding of chess while having a lot of fun, giggling and collecting stars in a safe online environment. Thank you Gardiner Chess for putting us onto Chesskid.com.” Louis Lo – Father of two keen young chess players.
