Event Details

The Brisbane Junior Girls Chess Tournament is for all female chess players from grades prep to 12. These events are always a lot of fun and involve a friendly atmosphere!

Where:

School Hall, St Thomas’ Catholic Primary School, 10 Stephen St, Camp Hill

When:

Sunday 9th September

Time:

Registration from 10.15-10.45am, Tournament starts at 11.00am and finished at 2.30pm

Cost:

$20 per child

Entries:

Entries on the day will incur a $10 late fee.

Format: 

Open – Students rated 550 QJ and above.

Novice – Unrated students in year 4 and above, and students rated under 550.

Beginner – Unrated students in grades Prep – Year 3.

The event will run as an individual Swiss tournament with clocks set at 15 minutes plus 10 seconds per side for the Open and Novice divisions. A separate beginner division for unrated students in grade 3 and under will be run without clocks.

Please ensure girls bring their lunch and any snacks they wish to have. There are drink fountains on site.

Prizes:

Trophy for the winner, medals for 2nd and 3rd place, Novice and Beginner division.

Supervision: 

Gardiner Chess voluntarily provides “play” areas for the use of younger chess players at various venues, this is not provided for purposes of “child care”, and the

use of these areas are subject to the oversight of the parents or guardians of these chess-players;

It is not the role of Arbiters to “police” areas outside of the playing venue, other than to ensure order in the playing venue;

Arbiters are highly trained and qualified individuals who inter-alia determine matters occurring in relevant chess games in the playing halls, ensure a quiet playing hall,

and the comfort of chess-players competing in the tournament.
